This is guaranteed to get buried, but whatever!
In my first few weeks at college, I hung out with a girl who had gone to high school with me because we already knew one another and we were in a few of the same classes. We hadn't been close in high school, but we were LiveJournal friends (this was the pre-Facebook era).
One day we decided to get lunch together and I met her at her dorm room. She was still getting her stuff together so I stood by her desk waiting for her.
Pinned on the corkboard over he desk was a long piece of paper--actually, two or three sheets of 8.5x11 taped together. As I studied it, I realized quickly that it was an entry from my LiveJournal. It was from last year, and detailed an innocuous afternoon hanging out with my best friend.
"Umm, Amy?" I asked, trying to sound nonchalant. "Why do you have an entry from my LiveJournal on your wall?"
"Oh, that!" she replied completely casually. "I don't know. I guess it reminded me of good times with friends. Ready to go?"
"Sure." And we left. And we never talked about it again.
I almost entirely forgot about it until recently, when my friend brought up that afternoon that I wrote about in the LiveJournal entry. And as I recalled the moment in Amy's dorm room, I realized:
She said it reminded her of good times with friends, but she wasn't actually there.
She had printed it out, brought it with her to college, and displayed it over her desk.
She didn't seem to think that was weird at all.
I'm still puzzled as to what the fuck was going on there.
