When I was about 12 or 13, I lived in a small apartment where a lot of weird shit went down, but this is definitely the creepiest. I was up late one night watching TV. The rest of my family was already asleep. Suddenly, I hear this noise coming from my mom's room- footsteps shuffling against the carpet, as if someone were dragging their feet while walking. From where I was sitting, I had a clear view down the hallway. I muted the TV, heard the shuffling get closer and closer to the doorway- and then the light in the bedroom turned on. Now at the time, my sister used to sleepwalk quite often, so I assumed it was her. Though I had never heard any of my family shuffling their feet that way, I had no other explanation.

I waited to hear the footsteps shuffle back to bed, or for any noise at all- but there was nothing. Complete silence. After a few seconds, I got up to see. My mom was sleeping in her bed- alone. No one else was in there. Her bed was quite a distance from the light switch- I would have been able to hear the sound of her getting back into bed had she gotten up to turn on the light. I went down the hall to my sisters' room- they were both dead asleep in their beds. I was staring down the hallway the entire time- it was physically impossible for one of them to have turned the light on in my mom's room, and then have gotten back into bed without me seeing.

So naturally I was really creeped out. I went back to my mom's room and woke her up. She got annoyed with me for waking her up, said she didn't turn the light on, and told me to turn it off and go to bed. Honestly, I cant remember what I did afterward, but I definitely didn't go to sleep.

Like I said, there were many other creepy occurrences in this apartment. Luckily we only lived there for a few years.
