stinied Thread

This happened a few years back and still gives me chills every time I tell it:

My mom passed away when I was 9 years old. My dad has since then remarried and we have moved twice. Once to a different house and then once out of state. While I was in college, I was home visiting my family and routinely checked the mail. It doesn't happen as often as it used to, but occasionally, my dad and stepmom still receive mail addressed to their deceased spouses. On this particular summer day, I went through the mail to find my mothers name on an envelope. Being my sassy self, I recall joking out loud, "Don't think you'll mind if I open this, Mom!" only to find that it was a letter inviting her to renew her subscription to some catalogue I'd never heard of called Angels on Earth. I told my stepmom about it, finding it rather bizarre that she'd receive such a thing in the mail 10+ years after her passing. That evening, my dad returned from work. I hadn't yet told him about the interesting mail my mom had received when he announced that it would have been their wedding anniversary that day. I like to think it was her way of saying, "Hey, I remembered today."
