I was 7. My cousins were over, "Destiny" was 8, "Nadia" was 9 and "Denny" was 6. Usually I wasn't allowed to play in my front yard, the road we lived near was 60mph, and we had a large backyard with my swingset and stuff. But this day we were allowed to draw with sidewalk chalk on the walkway leading up to my front door.

As we were playing, my cousins Nadia and Destiny both stood up suddenly. They both started complaining that the same woman had driven by in the same car 3 times now, staring at us every time. I didn't think anything of it, but right away the woman had turned around somewhere and was driving past our house again, slowly this time. As I said, it was a fast road, so this was noticeable. She was staring at us and drove off when Nadia and Destiny started yelling at her. (For reference, I was a sheltered upper-middle class child at that age, but my cousins were living a hard life in a dangerous area, so they were more aware of danger than me.) So I still didn't care this was happening. Nadia told me to go get my mom, but I told them not to cause I knew she'd make us come in.

However, the woman drove by again very shortly after, but in an entirely different car. Nadia and Destiny wouldn't let it drop this time so I went in to get my mom. She shot out to the front of the house, hanging out the door looking terrified. Nadia and Destiny were filling her in while I was trying to talk over them saying it wasn't a big deal, and at that moment the woman drove by again, going slow. When she saw my mom step out the front door she GUNNED IT. My mom flipped and made us all come inside. Until that moment I hadn't been scared, but I finally realized something was wrong and didn't argue. It wasn't until I was older that I looked back, and thought of all the horrible reasons that woman could have had for wanting to get her hands on un-watched children.
