The scariest thing I personally had the misfortune to witness witness was a man in my bedroom that didn't belong there when I was a teenager. I woke up to him beside my bed, and he then went on to attempt to murder and rape me. That has left me with a lasting case of insomnia and serious issues about trusting empty houses to this day.
