I awakened to smoke in the house I rented with 2 roommates. One of the roommates actually woke me. We were all outside watching the house burn. The same roommate that woke me ran back inside for some unknown reason. I was put in the back of a police car where it was warm. As I looked through the back window, I saw her lying in the driveway where CPR was being performed. She died. When we went inside to look at the damage, we saw her handprints on the wall. They led to the bathroom with a final smear to the bathtub where the she was found by firefighters and taken outside. I will never forget those handprints of lost desperation.
